Human beings require order in place, so to prevent chaos and destruction to take hold of the built-in nature we all possess. We will never listen unless morals, rules, and punishments are created as barriers to the selfish nature we can inflect not only to ourselves but also to the people around us. A modern example of this can be seen in smoking. Once an accepted act no one questioned its risk to self and the public at large. The future crafted a different story for people to follow. What we learned is throw behavior change and structuring habits ahead of time, your nature has the tendency of changing course. Making the decision harder will most often lead to giving up on the original intent good or bad.

Pack of cigarettes

In the case of smoking, the only way to disrupt the desires of the many before 1970 was not just throw health campaigns. Because sales particularly in the US only continued to go up when health warnings were being revealed. People might have been convinced that smoking was bad, but nothing stopped them from the act. Only once the environment options changed, additional warning labels, and even removal of vending machines. Soon after came direct access cigarettes, being something, you needed to ask for at a store and no more readily available over the contour. Later was banned in public places, on a plane, and eventually fines or taxing of cigarettes.

All of this was done by the government made to be the order that limits the destruction if left untreated would-be people in power didn’t want to gamble on the risk of the freedoms, we sometimes grow corrupt by its privileges. It took unfavorable decision-making and commitment then as it does now in 2021 with vaccinations. Telling people, the worse they are choosing to do or not do, is honestly less effective can telling those same people you can’t travel, go into a restaurant, work at a company and sometimes be in a public space. If only the first admission made enough of an impact, that resorting to all the others is necessary to change behaviors.

Try as we must, people are rational but emotional creatures that need structure. This structure is married in the form of religion and politics. One needs the other like men need women. Symbolically the man is the government as the structure, while the woman is the religion as the emotion. Together the nature of religion and government should be to control the urges we have; making it easier with the right support to do the things we already want to do which is protected, led by, and provided the right amount of freedom.
